It's their cheeky name for their service using AT&T's network. Their Verzion option is called Warp and T-Mobile is Light Speed. You can use any of the three networks and they'll let you switch between them, plus for $15 a month on top of their Unlimited Premium they'll actually let you have a line on a second network as a backup.
iPhone users who need group messaging and RCS should be on Warp or Lightspeed (carrier bundle was added in iOS 18.4)
Update: It looks like its working on the 18.5 beta 1
I like US Mobile…great customer service, fair pricing, teleport feature to switch carriers, and their Verizon "warp" services QCI 8 prioritization even on the cheapest plans and offers great service.

That said, not sure this is smokin deal but anyone that hasn't tried US Mobile should.

They have a 30 day free trial for new customers.

Unlimited ATT 5G hot spot data & also 20GB international data in 90+ countries? Wowza!

Been using their dark star and a physical SIM card on the $10 a month plan. Service has been rock solid stable with zero problems for the first 45 days. App and website actually work as designed unlike certain competitors who also offer $10 a month plans. Can't comment on porting in an existing phone number to USMobile though. Moved my long time cell phone number to Google voice awhile back. Now I can change cell carriers the moment a slick deal comes along. If I truly needed all that data both at home and on the go I'd be all over this deal. The USMobile app makes it super simple to switch plans as needed.

iPhone users be warned, there are a lot of issues with us mobile right now specifically with dark star that has been waiting for a carrier update. Was supposed to come out in march but didn't come out and I'm hearing May now?

Not too familiar with the issue entirely but thats what has been happenjng

Basically, waiting for a new carrier bundle from Apple that makes RCS and group texting work on US Mobile. Everything works fine on Android but because Apple controls every last detail of everything about their ecosystem, features won't work on certain carriers until Apple updates iOS's carrier bundle (which determines which features are supported on which networks) for the phones. The RCS thing is annoying, but if you use group chats and any of your group chat members are on Android, their messages just get sent as a reply to each member of the group and you won't know which person they're replying to or that they've replied to the group at all.
Thank you for mentioning this for iPhone users, apparently no problems with Android.

Looks like Verizon is in your future then.
Unfortunately VZ coverage is absolute shit in the building I work in, while Tmobile is fine and hopefully ATT since they use the same kind of network?

I switched to US Mobile Verizon service almost a year ago and am saving 70% off my old plan. The service has been stellar except RCS texting is spotty. I turned RCS off in my phone, which limits me to SMS and iMessage, which is what I had before, and texting is peachy now. Everything else works perfectly and the service is dirt cheap with excellent coverage. I'm very happy I made the switch. Renewal next month is a no brainer; I'm sticking with these guys as they are by far my best option. I might be able to save $1/month with another provider, but I doubt I'll get the same premium service.

The OP's plan posted is very good, but for many the Unlimited Starter is plenty and is only $228/year ($19/Month) for 70GB + 20GB Hotspot per month. Great deal for all but the heaviest users.

For the record, I'm grandfathered in on their $72/Year ($6/Month) plan with unlimited talk/text and 1GB/Month data. I'm not a big cellular data user as I'm usually connected to WiFi.

AT&T and Verizon service overlap in many areas, usually with one having better signal than the other in situations like your work building. You may want to ask around with coworkers, some of whom likely have AT&T, and ask how their service is at work. In my metal shop my Verizon service works great, but AT&T is very weak because their tower is further away.

I had them for two months and for whatever reasons, I had to call maybe 4x to get them to turn on hotspot feature as it kept turning off. After the last time I ported out with telling them why. I don't see them as any better or worse than Visible.

what is Dark Star?

US Mobile's name for ATT network. Warp is Verizon, and light speed is T-Mobile. The service is incredibly cheap (I pay $25 after tax for 35gb of priority data and unlimited talk and text) and their ability to "teleport" between all 3 major networks at will means that if you ever are travelling in the USA and all of a sudden one network is bad in that area, you can teleport to a different network in minutes with same number. No Sim swapping necessary if you're using esim.

I have several US mobile accounts. One of the things I like best about them is that their security is much better than other prepaid services. Think about it: if someone can steal your phone number imagine how difficult it is going to be to get your number back, let alone access all of your other accounts?

there are quirks to teleports (changing networks), however. Banks and other sensitive accounts may freeze your account for several days after you switch networks -- their way of trying to protect you if someone steals your phone number by porting it away as a step to stealing your identity.

3 Android devices on US Mobile for a couple of years now.

Each phone was on a different Carrier network with USMobile. Now they are all on the same one that is best for our usage.

We ported in every number from other carriers, including a landline which AT&T did not want to release and USM called me to let me know, made me a third party on a call to AT&T and demanded on my behalf for them to release the number. Worked within minutes.

I've also moved my number to each of their networks, testing them for a few months. Never any push back or problems. No charges either.

All of us are on a shared 2GB data plan (90% of the time on wifi) for about $10 each, for a total of $32.44.

They also spent about 5 hours in chat over 3 days as I tried to troubleshoot a problem with my Pixel 7 that turned out to me a part failure on the phone covered by Google's warranty (which was also a GREAT experience).

Quick chat with them and a lock can be placed on your SIM/eSIM.

I HIGHLY recommend them.

I do the standalone watch and the current service doesn't always work as great as my att watch for my daughter, just signed up last month. Can the watch switch to that service dark star?

I've been on Dark Star for a few months and the carrier bundle issues haven't bothered me. The two main issues are group SMS and the lack of RCS. They'll be fixed eventually.

Besides that, the service has been excellent. The Unlimited Starter (Dark Star) plan is a steal, especially the annual promo. $19/mo for 70GB high-speed data and 20GB hotspot. No other AT&T MVNO offers anything close for that price.

This is a misleading deal. This is a Yearly Commitment. Title should be fixed.

Been with them since like 2022? Haven't had problems, switched from 15 dollar 5gb plan to current $170 yearly plan with 12gb. Free international calls and easy data adds on for international traveling since I am using E-sim.
Customer service is very responsive and the app is easy to use. I am on the warp (Verizon) and very comparable to my Verizon colleagues, didn't have issue when Verizon was even down.
Give a try if you don't mind yearly commitment, receiving wise, better than mint.

I love the savings and billing simplicity that yearly billing allows. The only real downside is the inability to change carriers on a whim. Agreed that the title should reflect the yearly rate, but nobody is perfect.
