$8.98 for Kobolt from Lowe's I'm thinking of buying this from Lowe's. Any recommendations? https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-R...5013488711

I bought this the previous craftsman ratcheting screwdriver earlier and should be here tomorrow, so I'm not sure of the quality yet. I just got it to go into my full Craftsman tool set, because the driver it came with was a bit driver with a few sockets and not a standard 1/4" bit.

Not sure about that Kobolt. it looks beefier and a little better built, but it has proprietary bits like this one.

Also with other screwdrivers with that type of bit storage, it's really hard to get them out. $8.98 is a deal though if you are in the market for a ratcheting screwdriver.

Picked this up on the last sale at this price, very unique design over normal ratcheting screwdrivers in that is drives the screw in the direction selected on both forward and backward turn. Not sure it is a time saver; if you want fast just use a power driver. Love the idea though.

Looks like a decent screwdriver and I always prefer having bits stored in the handle. The only problem I can see with it is the bits are not magnetized. For me It's so frustrating when you're trying to move fast and screws keep falling to the floor (over and over again). Good luck with it! Let us know your thoughts once the screwdriver arrives.

Comparison to this one? Wondering if it's worth the extra dollar for the case, mag telescoping, and 4 extra bits vs. "quicker" ratcheting and double headed bits.

a small neodymium or stack of tiny neodymium magnets on the shaft will lock in the bit and any ferrous fasteners you wish to use.

I recommend this one from RollingDog:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0CHY9DJB3

Standard bits (all S2), knurled grip on the longer extension, and has additional storage in the base for up to 12 bits. Really nice, lowest it's been is $10, but even at $12, it's a great deal.

You're not supposed to hold it by the cap LOL. In all seriousness, I think you got a defective one. My biggest complaint is getting used to the reverse switch that pops up and down instead of the typical swivel type switch. I like this better than a Snap-on rachet screwdriver that was gifted to me (would never spend over $100 on a manual screwdriver, goes against ever fiber in my sd existence).

I bought 2 in November 24. I don't have this problem with mine. My go to for quick work around the house.

I use this one more often than fancy Japanese ones since it's much more ergonomic for changing the directions

I own both, although the Kobolt is still in the package. The Craftsman feels sturdier with smoother(maybe?) ratcheting action (Kobolt only tested in package though, no real world application). Going to return the Kobolt and get another one of these.

i bought a Skil electric pivoting screwdriver for $13.99 through a SD back in 2021. looks like things have gotten much more expensive when a non-electric screwdriver costs this much.

I cam here to say that $15 would go some ways towards buying the whole Picquic collection. I've been unimpressed by ratcheting screwdrivers and now they just sit around somewhere. But it appears as if Picquic lost the trade war, so we just get more and more Chinaman.
