It's been this price for months now and it's been as low as $899 and $989 in the past.

I see you post a lot of computer deals and I'm much less knowledgeable so honest question - are there any major reason to stay away from this? It appears to be a much better price than anything else currently with similar components. The screen doesn't look great, but I'd be mostly using it as a home office workstation (and for some light gaming) with an external monitor.

If you plan on using an external monitor anyway then might as well save $200 and get the HP Victus currently on sale : https://slickdeals.net/f/18190831-hp-victus-laptop-16-1-fhd-144hz-ryzen-7-8845hs-rtx-4070-16gb-ddr5-512gb-ssd-900-free-shipping?src=category_page
Also, there was an Acer Nitro on sale with 4070 and QHD display just a few days ago that was cheaper than this. Considering all that and the fact this has been cheaper before, I wouldn't call this that good of a deal.

Would this be good as a "creator" laptop?

Not even close to it, not with that display. This is purely a gaming laptop.

Thanks, appreciate the input. However I see 16GB ram and 512GB SSD for the linked HP vs 32 and 1TB for this one?

You can definitely get a 4070 laptop for less. I posted this one because it has 32gb whereas most seem to have 16gb, and the omen line generally has better build/aluminum chassis/etc. appears to have a full wattage GPU and Intel vs Ryzen. So some may want to pay a little more for those attributes.

It is a very good deal, the only thing to consider is that it's i7-12700 processor is slower than the 19-12900 that is becoming the standard on newer laptops that will become more available for back to school later this year.

That said it is a VERY good processor and GPU spec, especially when it has 32 ram and 1TB HD vs the big box stores often having 16 RAM

By "creator laptop" are you looking for a combo of rendering speed and color accurate screen?

Seems like a good deal. Shame gaming laptops are a puzzling concept. Luckily the Steamdeck is fine when I'm away form my desktop.

I guess I'm not too concerned with color accuracy, but rendering speed would be somewhat important.
