I wonder if this will make pipe joint solders more precise. Had to do some repairs in my walls with a MAP torch between studs supporting a shower mixer. Kinda worrying, me the amateur, but had my extinguisher on hand. But I'll be damned if I'm gonna pay a plumber
I paid $2k for a shower valve replacement. The plumber did the worst soldering job with bulbs everywhere and "forgot" to wipe the flux after soldering. I had green patina everywhere, only where he soldered. The patina is an acid and will eventually cause a leak.

2nd plumbing company installed the hot and cold water lines backwards on my washer.

3rd plumber installed the toilet where the water level was too high..

Do you trust these plumbers?

All of these were highly reviewed on yelp and not big scammer plumbing companies.

I don't think this is for plumbing. Looks like it's more for creative precision stuff like jewelry, craft projects and smaller items.
I've primarily used it for plumbing; it's great not having to hold the entire gas canister up. This thing allows you to get into really tight spaces.

I've also used it in the kitchen to sear steaks and for creme brulee.

It's way too big for jewelry. I expect you could use it to artistically burn wood or something.

This is a serious torch; not a toy. More than enough to sweat copper.

If I used a propane/MAPP torch more I'd be on this instantly. But I use a small oxy acetylene tip for concentrated high heat. I also have a tiny tank rig for A/C and tight plumbing work, but those are quite expensive.
Ah h*ll, must have one anyway. One left in stock here, now mine. I hope.

I wanted one as soon as I saw it for the kitchen and have been very impressed. Scooped it for 50 a while back and mine runs nearly perfect, although I like low gas burns for maximum control. I especially like the tip oriented holster a looooot. It was expensive for what it is when I got it at $50. At $30 I wouldn't hesitate.

Ditto -- $40 in 55410 and most stores say OOS. This looks like a YMMV.

I'm not going to jump on this primarily because I've got a larger torch-on-a-hose that suits my needs just fine, but also because I'm deeply suspicious of Bernzomatic's ignitors. It'd be interesting to hear any evidence that this one is not terrible, is serviceable, etc. Flint strikers work fine for me.

What do you suggest? Also can you explain the igniter vs striker thing for noobs

Looks cool but big time YMMV on availability and YMMV on price. $50 where I am at.

It highly depends on what you want to do. The torch I was speaking of was from a startup in the post-Great Recession era and I don't think they exist any more. Visually speaking, it isn't too different from:
https://www.lowes.com/pd/Flame-Ki...5015006839
but at that time, $70 was dirt cheap compared to the next brand up - which I suppose must have been TurboTorch. I bought it when I was shopping for a MAPP-compatible swirl tip, but I've gotten plenty of work done with a standard pencil tip torch where you hold the cylinder like this:
https://www.lowes.com/pd/BernzOmatic/5014236229
The ignitor I'm speaking of is the "push button" that lights the torch. Google is really failing here at reminding me of what was trendy over a decade ago, but Bernzomatic had a popular trigger-start torch that they had just recently "updated" by making it completely unreliable, and every other review was "stopped working after a few months". You could continue using it with one of these, but then you'd need to hold it in one hand while holding the trigger with the other hand:
https://www.lowes.com/pd/Bernzoma...5013449543
so while some easily-entertained people raved about how fun it was to own a gigantic lighter, I viewed the push button as a liability. Still do.
