Most people who make that comment are clueless that VA panels are actually preferred on curved screens because curved screens are prone to light leakage and catching ambient/reflecting light. The bigger the curve the more you would want a VA panel, this is only 1000R so IPS would still work to get colors to be more poppy, but then you lose that higher contrast of the VA panel.

Good or bad?

I purchased similar (same?) monitor last year on Black Friday (SAMSUNG 34" Odyssey G55T WQHD 165Hz 1ms(MPRT) HDR Curved Gaming Monitor - LC34G55TWDNXZA) for $229 from Wal-Mart and it has performed very well for me using my PC

I'm using my curved IPS 34" panel so a bit confused? You do know they have IPS curved panels right?

you're assuming the same use case scenario for everyone buying this monitor. Some of us use our curved IPS monitors for work related reasons and wouldn't go back to VA if we had the choice. I was just saving people the click
Besides blocking peripheral vision which allows you to focus more, there is no major advantage for using a curved IPS for work.... In reality the curve makes it less accurate than a flat when it comes to creative arts or engineering when directly viewing because it can distort lines and shapes. So you would be in the minority of whatever you do if you think you need a IPS curved for work to work more productively. Unless you believe you need an IPS to look at spreadsheets...

As someone else above mentioned got this for $230 Black Friday. I'd suggest going to the product website and updating to the 1008.3 firmware they just recently released as it was giving me some weird white vertical lines when waking from sleep mode. Went through three of these with the same problem, hasn't done it since updating so hopefully this firmware fixed the problem. Been a couple months now.

If you appreciate the screen real estate and high refresh rate, it's a fantastic monitor for any PC, but it is intended for gaming.
