Answers / Additions to the above:

Yes, the image is showing a set of three. No, when you actually click on the link it shows / clearly states 1-Pack.

No, nobody in their right mind would buy this for the "often sale price" of $100. Google has killed these and won't honor the expiration date of up to 10 years out, even if these weren't found in a back warehouse and are already a few years old.

TLDR; Basically, unless you have a significant existing Nest Protect setup and acknowledge "sunk cost", and need a Nest Protect at their normal "sale price", it's better to spend the money on an alternative.

I wish Google would stop killing stuff.

It's hard to trust any of their series/lines to be around for a long time.

What really hurts is they stopped pandering to geeks in order to compete with Apple.

Even basic extensions for Chrome are blocked now.

I actually like DIYing my own solutions and getting things working exactly as I want them, which is why the backend of my Google Home ecosystem is mostly run by Home Assistant tie-ins with various other products I was able to de-cloud.

Unfortunately, Nest is anything but DIY.

What really would have made these great is if the smoke detector portion was modular, so you could keep all the smart hardware and just swap in a new sensor.

So what happens when these expire and what's a good replacement that has smart capabilities?

One of my protects has a failed co sensor so I'm looking for replacement. I need something that is wired, sends alerts to my phone, and can be silenced via app. What would you recommend?

IIRC, they stop working once reaching expiration.

They're partnering with First Alert to come out with devices this year.

Yea I was thinking of moving everything to Home assistant too.

Modularity is never going to happen with these companies lol

I have quite a few of these in my home. Looking to change to another brand that's similar (if possible)…anyone have any recommendations?

I just received 4. All 4 were manufactured in 2022.
