These are great. Have a couple. Really neat and look nice.
BUT... IMO do not buy these since Google has discontinued them. Yeah, they'll work as basic smoke alarms, but very very good chance they'll literally remove their functionality from both the Nest and Home apps in a year or so and leave you with very expensive pretty-looking fire alarms that can do thing but make noise.
They did this a couple years ago for the Nest Secure system, which was pretty damn expensive. As a 'make good' they provided a $200 google store credit, so about half the retail cost, not including other sensors. Bullshit, but fine, whatever… After about two hours on the phone with clueless reps to be 'issued' the credit. But worst of all, when I went to use the credit a couple months later, it would not work and after multiple attempts to have google reinstate/reissue they just stone walled saying they 'couldn't'. Not that the credit was used (asked if it was, they were unable to determine yes/no) , incorrectly issued, etc, etc. Literally just that they 'couldn't' reissue me use of the very credit they issued me that never worked.
Over the past decade I had probably spent $5k+ on Nest and Google hardware (phones, cameras, smoke detectors, etc, etc) Telling this to the reps meant nothing to them. I even urged them to review my account if they could see I wasn't full off BS and see the devices connected to my account. One of the reps gave a slightly human response along the lines of "oh, wow. yes. I see you've been a long time and frequent customer with many devices" and still...no effort to attempt to set things right.

Sundar Pichai has absolutely ruined Google IMO. Sorry for my rant, but Google has leveled up beyond enshitification in the past few years. Thrilled that they're prob going to be forced to sell/spin off Chrome. Doubtful after kissing the God-king's ring this past inauguration, but I hope the FTC & DOJ don't stop there.

I have 4 of these set to expire this year and just bought 4 more. Zero issues over the 10 years I've owned them. I've received warnings when we accidentally burn something while cooking. WiFi connection has been rock solid. Batteries last about 5 years for me and the pathlight feature is actually very useful. Standard practice to replace CO detectors every 10 years as the sensor degrades. The 4 I just received from Google have a Mfg date of 2023.

Mine works w The Nest App. Far superior app vs. Google home.
True that! I hope the Nest app never stops working, Google home is trash by comparison. They keep trying to get me to switch over by offering one price for all devices to have x-days retrieval. Nope, not doing it!

I understand... These were still expensive up until 2021 about before sales...either way I guess I don't value the features much and a regular smoke alarm has always done fine... But I get it that the features can be important.. thanks
I think i paid, a few years ago, probably around $90 after all discounts from what i can remember. But yeah i agree, its just how much you value those features in the end and if its worth it to you.

I had these. These are such a nightmare, especially the ones that are battery. Once it disconnects from Wi-Fi, it's super hard to get it to reconnect. It's crazy. I'll never buy another one again
Never had issues with the wired ones I've owned. Pretty much install and forget about it.

I have 8 of these in my house. Sad they discontinued it. I won't buy another google product. I paid all this money for these, also the discontinued nest protect and sensors too.

It's really disappointed it looks like the first alert units are a poor replacement, almost the same price, only one type of fire sensor instead of two, they look ok but not as nice as nest alarms, but also no motion path light which I really love.

I have 8 of these, 5 that expire in 2030 and 3 in 2033. I'm tempted to pick up a couple more but seems like kind of a waste to leave them sitting in a box using up most of their life the next 5 years. I guess can hope someone comes out with a comparable model before then..

Thanks, ordered 5 more to go with the one I picked up at full price a few weeks ago. Have 8 expiring this year so this gets me almost there!

Google does this to you every time. I'm never dropping any money on Google tech again they are liars and your money is gone the moment you invest in their ecosystem. https://killedbygoogle.com/

The "new" ones looks like a hot mess. Is there anything else on the market?

Google is replacing with FirstAlert.
The previous FirstAlert OneLink was horrible. It looked similar to the Nest and had a nightlight, but no motion sensor. It was completely unreliable; When there was a (false) alarm, the app notifications would not work, nor would it be able to 'silence' the alarm. The only thing the app could do fairly consistently was change the intensity of the nightlight.

Hope the replacement is not the OneLink or at least have some improvements.

I got 2 of these for my 2 hallways in 2022, I think. Shouldn't it be working till 2032? or google is killing this before that?

They have always only been good 10 years from manufacture date, not install date. This has always caused some confusion.
