Not a chance I would pay $170 for the DeWalt. There are comparable brands that cost much less and go on sale frequently.

That's a much worse deal even. You're giving up $180 battery for $87. - I paid $99 for the Kobalt 24v brushless version of this which also included a 4 Ah & 2 Ah battery, charger, and a tool box.

UPDATE - Be careful, you need to add the free item to your cart, it won't add automatically. You have to click on the free item and select it and make sure it's in your cart.

People want to stay with the DeWalt battery eco system is my guess.

Yeah, I have DeWalt and they're usually good, but they're not always the better choice, plus they charge a premium for the brand name. Especially for DIYer, they're often not worth the up charge.

I tried buying this but the battery and saw never split up. Are they supposed to in order to "hack"? Honestly not a bad deal at 179 for the saw + 2 powerstack batteries, I might keep it.
