I wish they still offered lifetime licenses.

Sorry to hear your experience, but my lifetime license has been working flawlessly since 2011. It cost me $14.99.

I bought a dozen of them. None of them work any more. Most never even let me register them once. Lifetime was a scam. (And I'm not talking about digital codes bought online, but retail box in store with a card). The $10 deal was all over the place back then and I force-fed this software to all of the many many people I helped with IT in those days.

Has anyone transferred to a new system lately though? I am sure I have something on an old XP machine and back then it could be moved but that's like 2-3 OS ago.

Lifetime no longer works…
Lifetime still works! But you will only be limited to updates for that specific version.

There is definitely some misinformation on the lifetime key/version. If you were using the lifetime key, before they did a major update a couple years back, it stayed working. But if you had to install it or reinstall it. The lifetime code doesn't work. In order to fix that. You need to contact their support with the key and whatever additional information you can. I don't know all that's required, but I sent them my order information and key and they sent me a new lifetime key that works with the current version.

Yup , had 5 lifetime licenses and non work any longer

, which makes me very unwilling to even buy deals such as this these days ! I'll have to think about this ..... thx though op for the post .
Was it an original from back in the day, or a (more recent) secondary license?

From my understanding you can have a lifetime license, and then transfer it over (deactivate/reactivate) on a new PC.

.

I'm not sure if they made any recent policy changes, but I will need to upgrade my PC sometime later this year (which has a lifetime license from way back in the day) and my current desktop cannot be upgraded to Win 11 unless I basically brute force the upgrade, which (IMO) probably isn't the best idea going forward.

Hopefully I can still keep my license and transfer it over.

What is the purpose of this in the era of Windows Defender / Security? (I see it's for Windows)
Depending on what time that you ask this question around here, you will get various different answers.

I'll also give credit that people here aren't making 90's antivirus jokes.

.

For many people, Windows will be enough. For some people, they are simply more comfortable with 3rd party Internet Security software. (for their own reasons)

Either way.. It works good with Windows or 3rd party, and uses minimal resources in the background.

Yes, it will give you a false positive from time to time, and I'm OK with that. It forces me to pause and reflect for a second going forward, and I honestly don't mind that it's being a little too cautious at times.

^ I won't name/shame any websites in particular here, but there are some websites out there that do contain malware that this software has picked up.

Doing a Google search, I'll see that others have found the same with different security programs.

For that reason alone, I think that the software is worth it.

.

Most people around here like this program, and their biggest complaint is that it doesn't have a lifetime key anymore.

This would be really nice to have at $15 for a lifetime sub.

Heck, even at $40, I'd buy it for the full retail version if it was a "lifetime" subscription. JMO.

The last 2 times I bought this, it was $5(effectively). Most recently Nov 2024.

Hope that deal comes back around.

As I mentioned earlier, I have been using my lifetime license since 2011 without any issues. Over the past 14 years, I transferred the license from Windows XP, Windows 7 Windows 10, and now Windows 11. No issues, and I have never needed to contact Malwarebytes supports for the license transfer.

When I purchased my lifetime license, Cleverbridge was the SaaS service provider of Malwarebytes. This might make the difference when Malwarebytes consolidated the license database years ago.
