No. Mac Mini M4 does not use standard SSD's. There are a couple companies that have reverse-engineered Apple's SSD's and sell them much cheaper. I think a 2TB is between $270 and $320. One of the companies is called iBoff.

Thank you so much for this info. I didn't know there was a diff between off the shelf SSD and what M4 macmini uses. On Reddit, I had posted a similar question and one person replied, stating using the sandisk and was loving it. After reading that, I started shopping and saw this post. Now, after seeing your comments, I will only focus on the two companies selling the SSD kit for M4.
