Yes, the SUB has occasionally been $200, but if you buy a lot from Amazon, the opportunity cost of not having 6% CB on every Amazon purchase may be significant enough to get it anyway. (I know it's a 5% card, but it's 6% if you use Amazon day delivery)
Other ways to get high CB on Amazon purchases, if interested:
- BofA Customized Cash with Preferred Rewards can give up to 5.25% on online purchases, with a cap of $2500 spend per quarter. $200 sign up bonus, $300 if you have a targeted offer. Requires $100,000 held in Merrill or BofA assets.
- US Bank Shopper Cash Rewards Visa can get you 6% if you pick Amazon as a preferred retailer, with a cap of $1500 spend per quarter. $250 sign up bonus. $95 annual fee waived first year.
I still prefer the Chase Amazon due to the fact it has no quarterly spend limit, no annual fee, no special strings.
The other two are nice if you like digital credits instead of the extra 1% cash back you get for Amazon Day shipping. I prefer the cash.
