Good phone and good deal.

The a35 is good, and is likely the last of the "good" Samsung a-series phones with an SD slot. The a36 and a56 don't have them.

I got the previous (nearly identical) a54 deal and was very happy with it. The two phones are architecturally almost identical (same processors and ram). It's not a speed demon, but is fast enough to do all "normal" stuff, like social media, email, phone, etc... without any real performance problems. Maybe a gamer would be disappointed with it, and it will be getting OneUI 7 very, very soon.
PSA: Looks like total wireless changed the policy from 60 days after activation to 60 days of active service. This went in to effect April 1st 2025.
Wow.

Porting in a number is a hassle -- if you don't already have a phone number.

The whole ID verification is just...how do the kids say it nowadays...."totes wack".

No idea how they're storing your image and credentials -- or who has access to them -- or what the process is for them to expunge that data -- or who is ensuring they're following best practices.

Oh who am I kidding, your DL and image are being sold to the highest bidder. We all know that.

Since total Wireless unlocks at the last day of the billing cycle (day 60) does that give me an opportunity to Port the number out of total Wireless without jeopardizing unlock?

If you get the 2nd phone(for free) from TW, can you switch to another cheaper service provider, such as TF, which offers $10 per month, and get it unlock after two months paid service, So eventually you get another phone for $30+$10x2=$50.
That's great thanks for the info. So my first phone will be $55 first month and $10 for the second month and my second phone will be $30 for the first month and $10 for the second month?

Do they issue a full refund if someone refuses the delivery? Thanks!
I doubt, because the phone is free, and the $55 plan is nonrefundable. But I could be wrong.

NO.
TW doesn't offer $10 cheap plan like TP, the cheapest plan(with phone number) is $40.
Also, I don't know how the "rebranding" works(someone mentioned about rebranding from TW to TP). I wish we can use the phone from TW, and use TP for 2 months for unlocking, hope someone knows the detail can share here.

In order to use your TW phone on TFone network aka "rebranding", you have to buy a new BYOD SIM card from TFone and then activate it as your own device. Keep paying for 2 months on $10 plan. After 61 days try to reach out to customer care and try your luck.

I see. So we can use the locked TW phone with TFone service, is that true?
When you said "try your luck", does it imply it's just a concept so far, without a successful story?
Thanks again!

Thanks, but could you please explain "rebranding"?
"rebranding" means when you buy a locked phone from either TW or ST or TFone and after some time you decided to use it on any of these 3 service provider even though the phone still remains locked.

Yes, that's possible because Total Wireless, TracFone, and Straight Talk are all prepaid brands that fall under the umbrella of TracFone Wireless, Inc. (TFWI).

As I explained it earlier, for rebranding your phone, you have to buy a new BYOD SIM card and activate it on respective network.

In this case scenario, you can activate your TW phone on TFone network and use it for 60 days of paid service on $10 plan. After 60 days, technically your phone should be eligible for unlock.

I think it's risky to "add one more moth of service", since it's not a continuous 60-day paid service... but I could be wrong though.
Yeah, I'm gonna wait and see what comes of the FCC complaint.

Samsung Galaxy A35 5G 6GB 128GB Prepaid - Total Wireless + 30 days service (Total 5G Unlimited Plan) $55 +tax

Need to switch to total (Port In)

Need id verification through 3rd party (selfie and DL upload).

No need to pay for 2nd month. Phone unlocks after 60 days post activation.

An option for those who do not want Motorola devices and we're looking for a reasonably powerful Samsung device (better than A15 and A16)

You need to edit your post with updated unlock info.

Yes, that's possible because Total Wireless, TracFone, and Straight Talk are all prepaid brands that fall under the umbrella of TracFone Wireless, Inc. (TFWI), which is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) offering services on the Verizon network.
As I explained it earlier, for rebranding your phone, you have to buy a new BYOD SIM card and activate it on respective network.
These 3 service providers bind their phone's IMEI with SIM cards so you can not swap SIM card or phone easily just like with T-Mobile or AT&T.
Thanks for the details.
So, can I say the phone purchased from 3 service providers Total Wireless, TracFone, and Straight Talk, can be used with the plan from other brand but within these 3, that is, TW phoen can be used for ST plan; TFone phone can be used for TW plan... is that right?
If I use a TW phone on paid TFone plan for 60 days, can I call TFone for unlocking? I hope TFone won't say I didn't buy the phone from them, so can't help for unlock.

Based on way back machine, the last capture on the 5th was still showing the effective date of July 2024, so for the prior deal, an FCC complaint should be an easy win. For this one which was posted two days ago, would need to figure out when the page was updated.

The key is to truly activate it by making a few phone calls. The phone number has to be registered to their network. You can't leave the phone unopened for 60 days and expect it to unlock. You have to take it out and TRULY activate. I normally call and answer on a different phone. Then dial the new phone and answer as well. I can prove I activated it.
I did activate it and used it. second time I didn't recharge it with a plan. Now I have applied $10 plan for 7 days. The #TFUNLOCK# code did not work and the reason is it was a rebranded phone from tracfone to total.

Oh no, catching up through the thread.

So the policy changed? I was contemplating ordering a new line but now with this 60 days of service requirement..

I originally ordered my edge in November with the 30 days of service. I only used for the 30 days and then put it away. It unlocked automatically in February and have been using it since with my postpaid Verizon service.
