I tried and put like 4+ hours into this one and just could not stand the story line...

The first is my favorite due to the story and characters. The only thing I hate in the 2nd one is the controls due to the input lag and the forced walking. It feels like you're walking on ice.

No, I think there are many people who just didn't "click" with it, mostly (from the ones I heard) because of the pacing. RDR has similar mechanics as GTA, but a much slower pace, which many people didn't like.

For me, that's why both RDRs were my favorite games -- more relaxing, immersive, etc. and less constant action.

It is, in my [old man] opinion, the best video game ever made to date. If it doesn't click, it doesn't click. But if it does, it's very rewarding.
