Good deal in these times, popup gave another 10% off so really right around the $10/T for new, even if it's a barracuda in there.
No one can tell you exactly how these tariffs are going to play out, if you need storage, i wouldn't wait.

Site talks about a limited warranty. Anyone know how many years for externals? Still possible to use a heat gun on the seal and shuck this?

Do we know if these are barracudas now? I know 24 and 28TB no longer seem to be exos but haven't seen anything about these.

The 20tb are barracudas too. I'm thinking this would be the same. So disappointing they are taking exos out of these.

This is tempting, considering prices are likely to go up and I'm gonna need one of these. Too bad the 28TB is not on sale.

Keep in mind that actual IRL capacity for a 22TB drive will be about 20TB.

Warranty is one year with 100 day per year rated uptime. Which means if you don't idle the drive, such as with a home server, it is conceivable they will void the warranty for abuse.

Now that said, I've yet to hear anyone say Seagate voided the warranty for that reason. But they could.

But still, it is clear Seagate is still probably rebinning drives that WD and Toshiba wouldn't.

100% Barracudas, but there's a chance they're the "Pro" model.

The Pros really aren't bad at all, they just get lumped in with the consumer grade because of the name.

But they're definitely no Exos.

oh Gee!
I just checked GoHarddrive and Serverparts .... and the prices are very, very high. I 12TB or 14 TB refurb is going for 200 dollars. I remember buying them for 79 to 114 dollars a year or so ago. I'm just glad I bought about 12 of them back then. Sounds like we will have to wait a while until the prices settle down due to tariffs and "other stuff". Smilie

When I looked, I couldn't find a 22tb offered in the barracuda line just the ironwolf pro and exos. maybe these ones are lucky.

So this is strange...
I just got these in, and ran the serial numbers, the model they show up as is for Exos x22

Sounds great, so I shucked one to verify. Model matches what showed up, but the label is barracuda.

Anyone have any insight? Almost seems like they relabeled exos to barracuda just for us shuckers
