Compared to the Dell Alienware Aurora Desktop (ACT1250)this system offers a stronger overall package: it has a better CPU (AMD Ryzen 9 9900X vs. Intel Core Ultra 7), double the RAM (32GB 6000mhz vs. 16GB 5200mhz on dell), and twice the SSD storage (2TB vs. 1TB). You also get liquid cooling and better upgrade flexibility compared to Alienware desktop, which is more difficult to modify and reuse case later.
On the other hand, the Dell gives you a higher wattage PSU (1000W vs. 850W) and includes a Platinum-rated PSU versus Gold.
Another plus for this system is the 2-year warranty, which offers longer coverage compared to Dell's standard 1-year.
Overall, you're getting more performance and value with this build. Unless you have 10% coupon for dell and CB. Then dell can be had for around 2k flat.

From what I can tell, this is near the cost of building it yourself (at least when I used pcpartpicker). Also we have no clue what the pricing of these may jump up to over the coming weeks so if you're looking, I'd personally recommend buying.

The other parts are nowhere near $1400 if you shop around

@koolaid2000 Quote from koolaid2000 : Most of the postings are fake and "ships for free" scammers from members joining in 2024. They're all bots. The real 5080 or 5090 postings are all with scalped prices and 100% markups This is completely false. Nobody can even get rid of them for MSRP near me in my area.Unless you think the guys selling them at MSRP with 10 year old Facebook accounts, 100+ feedback are scammers?100% markups… most models are $1,400+ tax now MSRP. They sit on Microcenter shelves for a while and failed scalpers are trying to sell at MSRP. There's even the $1,000 PNY model 5080's around me going for $1,200 which is $120 above MSRP. I got my PNY 5080 for retail price after a scalper had it priced too high for too long and was desperate to get rid of it since he needed to pay bills after getting a 5090
Yeah I'm going to call BS on this Pics or you're lying.

This is a decent deal, but don't let the tariffs lead you into panic buying them, yes China has a large Tariff, but what happens is that China just reroutes all their inventory through Vietnam to avoid tariffs, same thing happened in Trumps first term.

Panic buying of large item purchases is always a bad idea.

It really isn't a panic buy. Price will shift up. Importers have to raise price to survive. Jobless rate is going to go up.
I agree those are all very likely outcomes. But, unless you're retired, or somehow dead secure in your job, you've just listed a bunch of reasons why you shouldn't blow $2.4K on a non-essential item in the face of a looming recession.

I remember in the '07-09 "great recession" when people were selling non-essentials, gaming rigs, motorcycles, luxury watches, etc. for a fraction of what they paid just to get by.

125% tariffs is quite the joke. I'm sure there will be no price increases from that. For a new GPU and hig-end CPU, this is not cheap, not a great deal but not a bad deal.
I thought most CPUs and GPUs were made in Taiwan and South Korea. So they shouldn't get hit by the 125% tariff, right? Most of the other components will, though.

This or the Ultra 9 + 64GB RAM for $200 more? Would be for gaming mostly.

I'm no expert so take this FWIW but I would say if you are the type to upgrade components through the lifecycle of your PC, get the AMD, as historically they seem to support the CPU socket much longer than Intel for upgrades.

If you buy and keep PC as is for years until its time for a whole new rig (e.g. set it and forget it, no tinkering), the intel might be a better option with the additional RAM and slightly faster CPU.

The only people buying PCs at this price are enthusiasts. Like 2-3% of PC gamers.

This costs >$2600 after-tax, which is worth a month of rent for a whole family for many people... let's not forget this fact. Fk greedy NVIDIA!

You work in logistics? Transshipping is fraudulent behavior and illegal. Doubt MSI would risk it… any whistleblower that decide to cash in may result in fines and closure of business.

And only thing happens with computer parts last year was Biden pause tariff on GPU and I returned the an RTX4080 FE back to Best Buy.

Now, 5080 and lower should go up in price. And due to restrictions 5090 gpu do not get to be in China. So even though there was tariff before, there was a lot of specific industry exempted. Now the tarriff goes even after some of those industry that was previously exempted.

Also I am not that familiar with the pc components industry so I can't specifically say if this round of 145% tariffs covers it.

is it?
consider the case of a video card, what makes it "made in china"? they could build the whole thing and put in "made in vietnam" box and have the vietnamese wrap it in plastic wrap and ship them

that is still 10% increase, not counting the logistic cost of the middle man

btw, the msi 5080 I just got, there is a sticker on the box that prints made in taiwan. where as my 4070, the made in china is printed on the box. I bet they'll just choose the territory that has the lowest tariff to put the sticker on
