I change my vehicle that only takes 5.x quarts once a year. Is this oil fine sitting on a shelf for 4-5 years?

As long as its sealed then yea no problem. If its open just put in a plastic bag to keep moisture out.

Bought 4 cases last sale and still have one due to one of our vehicles totaled. New replacement takes 0w-16, wish Costco sold it.

Who does this costco oil? rebranded from where? I normally use the Penzoil 5w-20 Ultra full synthetic for Ram Truck
Warren Oil (same as Walmart SuperTech and other brands). It's a good middle grade quality oil.

You can use 0w-20 just fine. Heck same motor outside the US calls for up to 5w-30

Lower viscosity in the US is for CAFE reasons, not motor longevity.

That's more expensive than buying this 4-pk 5-qt for $54

This is above mid grade oil . This oil and Walmarts oil is just as good as AMSOIL and royal purple. If you Don't believe me , believe Lake speed jr. - Lake Speed Jr. is a certified lubrication specialist and a well-known tribologist, meaning he specializes in the science and engineering of friction and lubrication

There are only 4 major companies in the that make the additives that go in oil.

Big Fan of Costco and Kirkland. That being said not sure I'll ever buy this oil again because the clear/white vertical line that is supposed to tell you how much oil you've poured does not work. So, there's no easy gauge as to how much you've poured or how much is left in the bottle. If your vehicle takes 5 quarts it's not an issue…..unless you're just trying to add a quart between oil changes.
Flash light at opening of jug. Will reflect off surface of oil and then you can see the white strip light up the empty space before oil level. But I just bought a kitchen quart measure so I can measure out the leftover jugs so I know the quart or half quart adds.
