You dont have to do this necessarily as the verification code they send when you are purchasing the phone doesnt have to be the phone number you are porting. You can get the verification code on any number then when you port a number over you can use the number barn number for $5

Yes, but nobody sold you something for $125-200 under retailer wholesale cost.
You get what you pay for.
You can buy this phone for more without the requirements.
If they did not require this some folks would buy dozens to resell (which I have no exact issue with other than it make such a deal impossible to offer)
Decide for yourself.
It's really no different from walking into T-mobile and signing a contract to get a 'free' or subsidized iphone. They take your id there.

Got 2 phones more than a week back and ported in from NumberBarn. Problem is, I'm only getting LTE services, but I have another device (work phone on Verizon network) getting 5G at the same location, so it's an issue with that.

I've checked phone settings and done all updates, but it's not going to 5G.

Any idea why?

Make these changes:
Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options > Voice & Data > 5G Auto
Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options > Data Mode > Allow More Data on 5G

Yup, I've checked that, restarted the phone, and it's still stuck on LTE for some reason

Sorry if this had been asked multiple times, but based on your experience what are possible options to port in numbers? Numberbarn? GoogleVoice? others?Update: used google voice number after unlocking it for $3 without any issue.

It's not always 60, sometimes it's 61 or 62 days. Call unlock dept if you're concerned - they can manually unlock.

Just a follow up on the unlocking. So mine did not unlock automatically after 60 days of activation. I needed to swap the sim card with the one from other carrier, login to my apple account again, and it's unlocked. Thanks.

Do you have to keep the SIM card in the phone for it to unlock? Was thinking to switch the SIM card to my every day phone so I can use the data as a backup in areas my primary carrier has no reception

Sim is registered to phone it's activated in. If it's important to get phone unlocked it's best to wait the required 60 days so there aren't any issues. (Swapping sims can cause problems with TW).

Good to know and yes, important for me to get the phone unlocked. Will keep the SIM in the registered phone in that case.

Im not guaranteeing t will work but I think you are fine since you paid for 3 months. I would put the sim back in the phone like once a week, make a call, send a text to keep it active. And then I day 59 id stick it back and leave it there until unlocks
With Visible, also Verizon based. I got a 13 , activated it and then moved the sim to my 13, didnt use the 13 at all and the sim back in on day 60 and it unlocked within 24 hours but this was a few months ago and I know the policies have gotten stricter (Mar-May)

Is this deal dead? I went through the whole process and it's charging me $250 for the phone at the end on top of the $165.

Posting from my unlocked straighttalk iPhone 13. I'm in Singapore πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¬! This phone pulled through while my iPhone 15 PM is still locked to Xfinity. Bought a $30 300Gb tourist eSIM for the iPhone 13. No issues. Better and faster than the $10 1Gb Globalpass from xfinity.

What's the per ID limit on the discounts? Had no problem earlier this year with 2 but would like to pick up a few more.
