You dont have to do this necessarily as the verification code they send when you are purchasing the phone doesnt have to be the phone number you are porting. You can get the verification code on any number then when you port a number over you can use the number barn number for $5

Yes, but nobody sold you something for $125-200 under retailer wholesale cost.
You get what you pay for.
You can buy this phone for more without the requirements.
If they did not require this some folks would buy dozens to resell (which I have no exact issue with other than it make such a deal impossible to offer)
Decide for yourself.
It's really no different from walking into T-mobile and signing a contract to get a 'free' or subsidized iphone. They take your id there.

Inbound texts on NumberBarn are free, but outbound is an additional fee.
So to use Textnow, how do you get port out info?

Duh, just read you wrote Numberbarn . My bad, no delete option. My question still stands though if you or anyone else has answer

Numberbarn costs $5 for number, right?
Textnow is free
Google Voice is $3
Why go with Numberbarn?

what address did you use for GV?
Sorry, I just activated my phone and based on prior comments used Google Headquarters address of 1600 Amphi.. zip code: 94043. Frankly, I thought the zip/ address didn't matter and google voice ignores it because I never faced issue when I had ported from google voice to TW long back on the iphone 11 deals.

I've used Numberbarn twice; each time, I think it was about 3-4 business days before the port finished.

Very helpful, was trying to figure out how to check as I'm close to 60 days. Does the other sim need to have a line or can it be whatever as long as it is a different carrier?

I liked how I could select numbers on Numberbarn's site and didn't put in too much research over the price difference of $3-5. Their page's interface also seems to very much catering to porting out of purchased numbers. People were still debating whether or not GV numbers would work or not.

just a different provider, could be ancient - just as long as its nano size.

I know it can be fixed manually but I really wanted to find out where the automatic process failed. The iPhone shows up as unlocked on the Apple GSX when checking imei.info or imeicheck.com. But when I go to the TFW unlock portal I get an error message when looking up by serial #. When looking up by phone number I get "Your device is not eligible for our Unlocking Program." And I still have SIM locked as the Carrier Lock status in phone settings.
Update on trying to figure out what went wrong. Filed an FCC complaint and following day Verizon Support called to help unlock. Easiest solution was same as what StadiumRocks said to swap in another SIM (I used an inactive Google FI SIM), go through Apple Activation prompts again, then it's unlocked in Settings.

So my basic understanding is TW pushes the unlock flag to Apple GSX as eligible to unlock then it's up to Apple whether they will push the unlock status the next time there's contact with Apple activation servers. Normally that happens with reboot with Wi-Fi/data but it seems like for now it may need to be with another SIM inserted or a factory restore/reset as RUBYSTEVENS said. There also hasn't been any software updates in nearly two months since iOS 18.5 came out which can allegedly also help get a push to update unlock status.

I'm still disappointed there's no official guidance on tfwunlockpolicy.com for how to deal with a pending unlock. They promise an automatic remote unlocking capability on their end and that clearly isn't the case.

Did you verify id again for 2nd purchase?
Wondering the same. I bought in store on another deal and want to try to add a line with the iPhone 13. I wonder if I'll have to verify again.

For my case of the iphone 14 plus, I chose to activate with a new number. I paid for the second month and the phone was unlocked automatically on day 61.
Did you pay for third month? Because day 61 falls in 3rd month

Is there any time limit in which I have to activate my phone and the new line? I received my new phone under this deal and I am traveling and won't be able to activate for 30 days. I understand that it will delay the unlocking period.
