You dont have to do this necessarily as the verification code they send when you are purchasing the phone doesnt have to be the phone number you are porting. You can get the verification code on any number then when you port a number over you can use the number barn number for $5

Yes, but nobody sold you something for $125-200 under retailer wholesale cost.
You get what you pay for.
You can buy this phone for more without the requirements.
If they did not require this some folks would buy dozens to resell (which I have no exact issue with other than it make such a deal impossible to offer)
Decide for yourself.
It's really no different from walking into T-mobile and signing a contract to get a 'free' or subsidized iphone. They take your id there.

I keep on getting error of ID verification fail. I used the same ID last year summer for two phones and it worked fine. But I am no longer able to buy again.

Anyone have any idea on this?

Only allowed 2 per account - can't find anything to say when/if - it resets to allow additional purchases later.

Somehow after activation shows up as tracfone and not showing up in my total wireless account. How hosed am I. Phone works and number ported

Shipped the next day and received on 7/18.
Was able to successfully port my GV after unlocking for $3.

Does anyone know if there is a way to unlock this device at the 3 months overseas? As the service won't be available there but I can take it with me and leave it with my girlfriend till it hits that point?
