It should power and charge up the power bank without a doubt, when you are bored just sitting there and cranking for awhile should easily get you a few % points, same with the built in solar panel. They say that two rotations is enough to keep the LED lights going for a few seconds. So in short not a long term solution unless you leave the battery bank outside in the sun all day to recharge.

This is the one I found with the hand crank as well as all the other options you could think off, for a survival situtation this looks like a winner if it all works as advertised. Also if you take all the coupons the 15% off and the 10% it comes to be about $45 and even has a today delivery for my area for the orange one.

People in reviews say "foggy sky =~ 6% of charge in two hours" (8 hour non-stop charging = 24%, 4 days to fully charge). Plus efficiency drops if panel gets too hot. This is more of a "I got stuck without ANY power so tiny bit from solar is a back-up to call for help" thing versus "use solar to charge my phone every day" Smilie

Problem with these Amazon and Woot battery banks almost all of them lie about that 25000mAH capacity or at least they used to when I got a few 4 years ago. Really tempting though since it has solar charging and I like the built in cables...

Just checked Amazon its $32 but does have good overall reviews 4.4 stars.... Tempting indeed for a camping trip. Think I will hold off and get one that also has a hand crank for when solar is not enough.

Lol didn't even know they made hand crank powerbanks. I had one that powered an fm/am radio like 20 years ago. Can't imagine that being enough to power a phone though

The full day of sunlight for a maximum 8000mah is roughly correct, with some exceptions. First, direct sunlight, so you have to constantly adjust the postioning of the panel, second, any clouds/shade will affect charging capabilities, third, the panel will get hot very fast, so efficiency will also drop very fast. Assume roughly 5000 mah or less per day given all of the above conditions. The solar panel portion of it is also only this good due to the size of the panels included, most powerbanks have a significantly smaller panel (1 panel vs 4 on this bank)

You may be spot on about capacity. All 1 to 3 star reviews complain about the capacity of this powerbank being less than 10kmAH

Yea, in terms of features the thing is pretty cool. But one of the reviewers took it apart and found it to be only half the capacity O.o

I wouldn't worry much about how many days it takes to change, assuming you start from a fully charged bank, and you can keep it that way for the few days that you are going to depend off it, 8000 mAh probably is enough to keep your phone working a day or two.
