Not really, they make significant changes and the showrunners really didn't get the world or universe that it's being set in. It's an atrocious adaptation.

Got through 7 books, realized nothing had happened in two books and that there were 7 to go and quit.
It's for some people, but I'll never go back. Read anything by Brandon Sanderson instead.

I only got through the first few episodes of season 2 and they did a hard departure for many things. I think I'd watch it more like... a fan remake of the book than a book to screen kind of situation. it didn't seem as bad as how The Sword of Truth was mangled, but similar vibes.

Have read the series many times over the years, own all of them in hardback but only had the last few in kindle version so it was an instant buy for me.

You'll need time and maybe some dedication to get through them all but I believe you'll find them to be worth reading.

In some aspects yes, but overall I think they are more different than the same, but I think that's more to do with trying to get all the books 'crammed' into TV format.

I watched the first few shows when it came out, but just started over a few months ago and binged them all in a week and now being forced to wait as each episode is released.

This is probably the least close adaptation I've ever seen. Past season 1, I don't recognize anything that's going on. I read the books 10 years ago, but I should be able to recall somethings. Besides the characters, there seems to be fewer parallels than you'd think is possible for something like this.

Books are way better. Past book 6 things get a little slow and dragged out

So, read the last 3 books? 😂 7-10 is a bit of a slog for sure though. I think around book 9 the entire thing is 3 days or something

I totally get that. Books six and seven were a bit of a slog, eight is better, but nine through eleven turn into tons of fun. You really just want to skip to Mat's parts, but all of the storylines significantly improve. Sanderson did a valiant job trying to finish the series, but I didn't think he quite captured the characters and dialogue.
I grew up with the books, reading through the first nine or ten multiple times and then listening to the audiobooks on long roadtrips for a few years. That familiarity made the show seem like such a tragic interpretation that I only made it through four episodes. It's an impossible task to convert such a complex and ranging series into something that a large enough audience would watch to make it financially viable, but the decisions they made to change fundamental parts of characters' stories (Perrin, seriously?) and some of the acting made it unwatchable for me.
Ultimately, if you love detailed descriptions, sprawling worlds and stories, and are looking for a massive distraction for a substantial amount of time, then you'll love it.

I'd say it's a bit like the movie Men in Black (1997), in which the bug alien wears Edgar like a suit. His wife can't tell immediately that it isn't him, only that he is acting not like himself, but she quickly passes out from sheer disbelief. Edgar the bug then spends the rest of his time on screen doing many things that could technically pass as human because of the skin suit, but only because the reality of a giant alien bug wearing a man is so far from the imagination of a rational person. The disguise works best on those who are neither familiar with Edgar personally nor the existence of giant alien bugs.
I didn't care for it.
