The
cheapest laser jammer that Vortex will still recommend [vortexradar.com], and that's when it's closer to $900.
3 front heads, support for 2 rear (sold separately), so somewhat vulnerable if your jurisdiction clocks from behind. (Apparently parts of Canada?) Decent performance even against DragonEye lasers.
Note that the following ban laser jammers, everywhere else is allowed (but use your judgment):
-California
-Colorado
-Illinois
-Iowa
-Minnesota
-Nebraska
-Oklahoma
-South Carolina
-Tennessee
-Texas
-Utah
-Virginia
-Washington D.C.

And no, this is not a radar detector.
But in practice now I've almost never come up against Laser in California, maybe once every 4 years I'll get a laser hit.

Your once every 4 years is a cop who either aimed high, or scattered/missed off of someone else.

Because laser's total footprint is only about a 2' square (roughly) at reading distance. When the officer aims at your license plate, a high detector is more than 2' above that, so it's outside the laser's footprint. Like if someone points a laser pointer at your chest, your eyes won't be blinded by it.
