Seems like a decent deal with that screen. Is the TGP a concern?
No, because this is primarily a creator laptop and a very good one at that.
The 3070 Ti, despite having 105W over here is easily capable of playing majority of the games esp at 1080p. It's the 60Hz display that would not be suited for gaming, but then again this laptop was never intended to be for gaming.

I wonder how people managed to pc game for 20+ years without 120hz monitors, must have been like winding up your engine to get your car going eh?

They don't play the games that require higher frame rates, then. It's not rocket science.
20+ years ago you wouldn't even require 120Hz monitors to play most of the games back then.

I would use a docking station for gaming, so the refresh rate is no big deal. I was just wondering if the power was too low for this specific card. It's a tempting laptop.
The keyboard is shitty, it's smaller than usual. The key cap is smaller than other keyboard though this is a 16 incher. It's heavy, and its battery is super short. Stay away from this.

lol 90% of the games played today are just ports of games from those days
Tempting. Anyone knows hows the speakers on these?
Nothing tempting of 12th gen Intel. Nearly 3 years old already, at this price, not a deal.. it the going price and I'd still wouldn't recommend it unless you're in love with this specific model for whatever reasons

What other 16" 4K OLED/AMOLED with powerful dGPU laptops can you recommend at this price?
in 2022-2023 i bought this at $999 in neweggs too. hmmm hard to say but its heavy and 60hz no good at all but if you use for simple works is good but who will buy this for simple work? anyway $700 is fair price than $850

Minus the 4K and OLED. There are a few that come with 4070 and newer processor and very close to this price point.
I have this laptop, I hate everytime I use it. It's heavy and battery is about 1.5 hour at best. And the left side thunderbolt port used for charging is super picky on what cable and adapter you can use to charge it.

Snobbery effect. Even today in 2025, majority of people who play real games (not mobile) do it on gaming consoles attached to 60hz TVs. Apparently they never got the message that they're not supposed to game on 60hz displays.
Same as with clothes. I am still wearing clothes I bought years ago. This is incomprehensible to a fashionable young female, for whom wearing clothes from last season would be a death sentence. But I never got that message.

Hard disagree here. I inmediately notice when my game's settings reset and it starts running at 60 Hz. Almost everyone who plays competitive shooter games will tell you how 120+ Hz is noticeable compared to 60 Hz.
