That stuff works fantastic the best! Over-the-counter stuff you can get without going to a pesticide store and spending much more money
Something you stick into the ground and it stands upright. Not something you put on a grill and eat.
I have refilled mine with sugar & borax (4:1) to reuse the same stakes for a couple of years now. They do work well. Unobtrusive and effective.

Edited to correct typo in ratio. Should be more sugar than borax or the ants will avoid it.

Seconded. These are excellent ant control. It's basically sugar water with borax. Ants love them.

You say 1 Part sugar mixed with 4 parts borax.

Is it dry mix, or do you mix with water into a liquid concoction?

just pick up Advion Ant Gel Bait (4 Tubes x 30-Grams) on amazon. Works better, cheaper and can be used over multiple ant seasons.

Once the sugar ants first start in the spring, I hit entries, heater ducts, and a bit on some tape on the counter. For a few days, they build up but soon they take the poison back to the hive and no more ants. Rinse and repeat every time they pop up.

They work well, unless you happen to have squirrels around. The little buggers chew them up.

If this doesn't work on your variety of ants try Advion Ant Gel. It was the best of the best. It was able to take out some giant carpenter ants that nothing else seemed to work on that I had to deal with a decade ago.

Recipes for liquid ant bait:

Have to keep the bait station cleaned, place in shade and refill once a month. The reusable ant bait stations are expensive and a chore to keep active in the yard. Give it a go - it'll take 30 minutes a month. Hope this helps.

I'm only seeing ants outside. Does this work well outdoors too?

Borax? As in the laundry detergent borax?

I only use it inside. I follow to the location of the ant entry, in my case they usually come in from the heating duct or some microspace at the door. Then I squirt a bit near there. I also place some on a swatch of tape on the counter.

The hardest part is that you have to let them eat so you have to live with them for a few days. They will eat then take the poison back to the queen and in a week or so they all but disappear.

For outside, I use Diatomaceous Earth (DE) and surround the house.
