I'll say this as somebody who was alive when these games came out. If you're young, and you are used to the latest and greatest games, you are not going to enjoy this at all. It's kind of cool to see the origin of video games, and even watch the documentary videos of people that worked in the industry back then, but all of these games are very rough to play in 2025, especially on a Switch, PS5, or Xbox Series controller. The loud and repetitive noises that most of these games make are also very rough on the ears, and the difficulty level of most of them is not for the faint of heart. These kinds of games were made to eat your entire allowance, and the ones on Atari were practically straight ports of Arcade games, but with worse graphics and sounds.

I have this and it's not fun to me. The games just are no fun trying to play them with a switch controller.

oh yeah, gotta play that ET adventure!! (did, back in the day and remember liking it, confusing though it was.)

Speaking of which I just want to mention that unsurprisingly a lot of the games just don't hold up. I DLd the Adventure EMU a little while back. A game I liked a lot on cartridge way back when. Just came off as ridiculously silly and no real replay value. Just good for a quick look back and reminiscing over finding the few hidden secrets and running from rampaging dragons.

You're not wrong about so many of the games, but there are a TON of games worth checking out ever for a few minutes... Not to mention the museum/history aspect of this title. You can absolutely get your money's worth

Very fond memories of adventure. Did you know that Superman uses the same underpinning code? Haunted house was one that actually held up pretty well

It's a metaphor for their pursuit of owning homes.

I built a emulation machine just to realize that while I beat River Raid as a kid I can now no longer even get past the second level.

(RetroArch in case anyone was wondering. Batocera works pretty well also for a dedicated machine also)

$20 should be the regular price for the base version by now. I think steelbook prior low was about $42 or else $35 at woot if you want to play the region chance game. $20 on the steel might have been a mistake by target that was matched by amazon. Walmart has it for $30 now.
