I received an email from Discover Card with Subject: "Congrats FIRSTNAME, you can earn 6% extra cash back on all new purchases"
There was an orange "Activate for Free" button that linked to discover.com which activated the offer for me. (Remember: before clicking on any links in emails, you should always confirm the hyperlink address)
This seems to be targeted and VERY YMMV.
The body of the email said:
Earn an extra 6% cash back
On up to $500 in new purchases through June 30, 2025.* That's up to $30 extra cash back in addition to the Discover® rewards you're already earning!
* Activate to earn an extra 6% Cashback Bonus® on all new purchases from the date you activate through 06/30/2025, on up to $500 in purchases. Your account must be open and in good standing to take advantage of this offer. Discover must receive your activation of 6% prior to when we process eligible purchases. Purchases may not earn 6% if made on the same day you activate 6% and that activation is after Discover processes your purchases. This offer is different from the quarterly 5% Cashback Bonus program. Enrolling here does not confirm enrollment in the quarterly 5% Cashback Bonus program. To qualify for 6%, the purchase transaction date must be before or on the last day of the offer or promotion. For online purchases, the transaction date from the merchant may be the date when the item ships. Discover does not determine the transaction date. Some merchants may provide a transaction date that may be different than the day the purchase was initiated. Rewards are added to your account within two billing periods of the end of the promotion. You will no longer be eligible for this offer if you switch to a Discover it® Miles Card. Certain third-party payment accounts and digital wallet transactions may not qualify if the technology does not provide sufficient transaction details. Learn more at Discover.com/digitalwallets. See Cashback Bonus Program Terms and Conditions for more information.
