It's great that the other posts all had great experiences. I just wanted to share my experience from the technician point of view.
I ended up picking up the Honeywell Home RENEWRTH9585WF Smart Color Thermostat (Renewed), Silver (RENEWRTH9585WF/U), and they are great! The Almost New condition ones are about $57 if you look on the Amazon Warehouse Deals, and I haven't had any issues in the past year of use.

Just wanted to share in case anyone is comparing options.
Do you have a dedicated C-Wire or is it a spliced install?
These need a C-wire to charge correctly.
If it's a newer system with older wiring, chances are you have a C-wire return on the control board but not enough wires to run it.
Alternatively, if no C-wire was previously required on your old thermostat, it may simply be disconnected.
They also make transformers to emulate a C-wire, but be careful with those and make sure they're isolated from the wires going back to your control board.
One last note: You can also temporarily charge it off the USB port on the back of the device. As long as there's no permanent error codes, that may revive it.

I just bought 2 since they were on sale and had our older honeywells upgraded that had been working without any issues for a long time and only because they were starting to show their age.

Some people report no problems.
Others have seen many problems of a wide variety. Problems might depend on how it interacts with your furnace or wiring to your furnace. The degree of problems might depend on how tech savvy you are are how much like like fiddling with tech things to resolve problems. Some people report damage to their furnace based on how the thermostat operates. Others complain about how the thermostat adjust the temperature (even when they haven't given the utility company the ability to do adjust the furnace). And other problems as well.
If you're still interested: You also may be able to get a thermostat for free or much less through your utility company. See this thread:

I personally would go with a different brand of thermostat, based on the research I've done.

Ordered two and same exact story. They're going back. They were scratched super badly. Would not recommend at all. Waste of time.
I've had zero issues with mine, but I'll probably just get a cheap Honeywell. They offered a 4th gen for $150.
