The Dawn of Everything: A New History of Humanity is a 2021 book by anthropologist David Graeber and archaeologist David Wengrow
Sapiens may be a good deal but it's a "just so" story akin to fairy tales where everything just works out and marches along because he decided what his goal was and wrote a story about all the stories that fit that narrative.
