to tell people they can only use this cord for christmas lights is irresponsible.
You can use it what whatever you f'ing want. I don't care. I only know that I would choose a #14 or #12 cord over this cheap cord.

not necessarily does one need to pay more money for a much thicker and stiffer and less flexible cord. many people could use this to power a fan, portable ac, a tv, or their fridge or freezer in the garage, etc. many more applications than simply powering christmas lights.
if this fella would never use a 16 gauge extension cord, then what is he doing in this thread? the gauge is listed right in the title. so he came here as the safety police just to warn us not to run high wattage, high amps devices with a thinner cord?
hopefully folks have enough common sense to know when they need a heavier gauge extension cord for running high current applications. it's nice to have a heavier cord for when you require it, but not *every* single extension cord needs to be of a heavier gauge. i have a variety, and use the appropriate ones accordingly.
