Been running a server with 15 drives in it. Started out half Seagate and half Western digital with a Toshiba in there at one time.

Today? 100% Western digital not a one of them died.

Seems like these are the highest capacity that have reported shucking for EXOS drives recently. Anyone ordered any increment between 16-20TB that could report back on what internal drive they received?

I got an invalid coupon when trying to use my 10% welcome sign up code, anyone else?

edit: nm, I had to place the order as a guest to use my coupon, once I signed in with my account it removed/invalidated the coupon.

Are these enclosed drives not worth if is not shucking? Is USB a negative performance or energy usage wise? I suppose the cable is one more point of failure. Thinking about just plugging this into my media server

They're great as enclosed drives, it just so happens a lot of the people interested in buying them are wanting to shuck them and put them inside a server or NAS system and therefore a lot of the discussion around these drives have been focused on shucking. They'll work fine if you just wanted to plug it in for some external storage.

I have this as a backup to my plex server. If you leave it in the enclosure, it runs really hot. put a fan blowing on it during long intense file transfers. other than that mine is working great.

Mine is an Exos 2x14 MACH.2 drive inside

I disabled pop ups on edge and used an inprivate session, I did have to refresh the page probably 7-10x before i got the pop up to sign up.
I could not get it to work on Firefox/Chrome/Brave doing the same things so good luck!

This. I ordered the 14TB cause it sounds like it's a good chance it's an EXOS, and it might even be an EXOS Mach.2.

If you're just looking for a massive external HDD for cold storage the 22TB makes sense though, it's a better value.

Buy one for 162$ with -10% coupon . 11.57 per TB for new drive seems like good price...

That's precisely what I did! Had to do a lot of refreshing before I got the 10% coupon. Well worth it. Hoping to get my drive in the next couple of days.

Would this be okay housing data for a plex server on with a mini PC?
