7 nrr is a joke in the hearing protection world.
Just note these are all v1. For the most part difference between these and the v2's is that they just made them smaller and more comfortable. (But the 2's are nearly twice the price!)

These are good. They come with a bunch of different sized buds, so you can get the right fit. The case is a little cheap but it does it's job.

You'll want the Experience series for events

What about the engage plus? Experience plus says it offers NRR of 7dB with an added 5 dB if you use the insert. Engage plus shows NRR of 10 dB and an added 5 with insert.

They don't necessarily protect your hearing better, but they are made to hear music clearly without muffling, while I'm pretty sure Engage is supposed to quiet background noise, but allow talking to cut through so you can have conversations.

Emotyic ER20 are widely used by professionals in festival space. Protects hearing while allowing you to hear conversations and music.

I used these during a short stint as a DJ photographer

It's almost like you missed the point of them.

These popped up just in time for several concerts and festivals I plan on attending in the next few months. In for two pairs.

I think the point is hearing protection, which I agree that 7db is not much of anything.

I could use some more hearing protection, my plugs are clapped. But I want at minimum double flange, prefer triple. Even for concerts. Can hear the music just fine in the front without walking away with more hearing damage.

Take your hearing seriously. You don't want tinnitus.

I have tinnitus, these are the best https://www.surefire.com/earpro/ I've found in terms of strong noise protection that fit nicely and don't cause pain. The ones with the cap the flips open work like the etymonic plugs and don't distort the sound. Most serious of the plugs is 30db down or something like that.
