AFter not seeing this on sale in a while I finally did get one a month or two ago and Im pleased. It does what it does which many other do, but like you said, they built this to be fixable. That's huge and a unique thing today. Similar to the moccamaster which Im also pleased with.... great combo.

I have this grinder from a woot deal a few years ago https://slickdeals.net/f/16898560-baratza-encore-coffee-grinder-95-99

One of the nice things about this grinder is that it was designed to be taken apart to be easily cleaned:

and has easily replaceable AND available parts in case something breaks:

If you want to "Upgrade" this to better grind for espresso and pour over, you can replace the Burr:

how's the static? I've had a terrible one from a good brand that did everything well, but the grinds would fly all over the place. Currently, I have a chinese one that the static is controlled, but the control over the size of the grind is not great.

The static from these is AWFUL.

The grinding is extremely consistent and allows you really fine control over the output (great if you do both espresso and pour-over) but this is one of the messiest grinders I've ever used. I ended up buying a small desktop vacuum to keep next to it that's helped with managing the mess.

I've had mine for over a year now, really love it. I picked up an aftermarket hopper bellows to help clear the grinder each time. Love that addition. May upgrade the burr one day, as mine dulls a bit. I just pair it with a Hario Switch for basic drip coffee from a local roaster and I'm very pleased.

The static isn't great. The grounds are amazing when they come out. Key is I have a small 2oz bottle with spray nozzle and do 2 sprays of water on the beans before dumping them into the hopper. Removes all static instantly. I say spray it's a light mist of water. But yeah will stop the static instantly

See my comment above. Spray a light mist of water on the beans before grinding them and no static
