Depends on your needs.

I don't like D cell batteries as I don't stock them at my house due to infrequent needs.
200 lumens is a bit low relative to many flashlights but allows for a longer runtime.

I have the older D version of this and the newer AA version. They've held up well to a lot of use. Not bright but long lasting and tough. I'd avoid the Ds as the AAs are so cheaper.
