The surge protection the GE model offers is substantial. The Anker, not so much. If you plan on plugging anything of value into it, like an OLED TV or other expensive electronics, I would suggest a surge protector with protection over 3,000 joules.

This extension cord "deal" is posted monthly.

For roughly the same price, get an actual GE-branded surge protector from Target...
"GE 12-Outlet Surge Protector 3540J 8' Braided Cord Black"

*edit* oh Shoot, Slickdeals got all their employees to downvote this bad deal lolol Hey, buy whatever you want; I got one of these too and hooked up my TV and entertainment system to it... Until I realized that a power surge would take them all out as the Anker has sh*t for surge protection. :-) Then I donated the Anker to Goodwill.

Not sure why you're getting downvoted. It's ridiculous to even bring tvs up in the context of this product, it's clearly meant for a certain use case and there's nothing wrong with that. Comparing it to a gigantic power brick is apples and oranges.

For one thing, Anker is not UL or ETL listed. No idea about the other but this deal is a hard pass for me on that alone

I love how people still think GE is the GE of 50 years ago. The consumer unit that makes surge protectors is owned by Haier. Just a large Chinese conglomerate.

I got this last time for my bedside to replace a traditional 6 port surge protector and the user experience is just so much nicer... the way it sits on the table is nicer, not flopping arouond, the quality of the cable, the layout of the ports, having direct USB ports.

In for two more now.

Seriously, I literally bought this for my TV because it fits perfectly on the back with some Velcro for my motion wall mount. It's connected to a UPS but modern TVs do not pull enough power to be a concern there.

I wanted something to mount behind a dresser and this even came with screws. Very nice

I have a whole house surge protector, so I'm not so worried about the surge.
