2025: Pencil $80
The pencil pro, by contrast, lives on the edge of my iPad Pro. So it's always charged, always ready to go. When I'm in that 5 minutes where I'm not taking notes I snap it back on to top it up. Pick it up and it's on and ready to go. There are some fun features like squeeze and roll that aren't supported by the lesser expensive pencils, as well as pressure sensitivity. I do make use of those for various app supported functions. I also have AppleCare+ on my iPad and that covers the Magic Keyboard and Pencil Pro as well.
I don't think there is anything wrong with the $20($16) version. If it meets your needs, I've found it works adequately. I just get a better experience and functionality out of the pencil pro.
