There's a couple versions. This one is basically equivalent to the previous RTX 2050. The RTX 3050 6GB is like 20-30% faster.

Either won't really play modern games. 1650 and 1060 6GB performance respectively.

Nope, they made the laptop version with 4 GB and 6 GB. Interestingly, the 4 GB has higher bandwidth than the 6 GB version. 3050 Ti mobile also has 4 GB.

I would assume this would work well for creative work projects (not gaming) which many folks still have a need for. Not everyone needs a gaming machine.

What about transferring BDs to a hard drive? I just bought a 22tb hdd to put movies on and I need a respectable computer that isnt slow.

Good deal but on the long run, it will be better have DDR5. We are on 2025 and DDR4 has been available from 2014. It's really old technology and slow speed.

Transferring? That's a bandwidth issue and not a cpu/gpu issue.

Encoding/transcoding? This will do it.

If you're looking to "transfer BDs" to this laptop, then the 512gb ssd is going to be your limitation.

I picked one up tonight for my wife, who does interior design work. I also got a 32GB memory stick to add to the 8 GB and a 1TB SSD, but I am not sure I will need to upgrade as most of her work and programs are in the cloud. 512gb will likely do the job.
