I bought the i12700KF for $150 couple weeks ago, but for newer chip with integrated graphics and a bit more power (and uses less too) at only $40 more is tempting...

Did that come with the games? Civ VII is getting meh reviews but Shadows is supposed to be amazing.

No game(s) included, but not a big selling point for me, I have such a backlog by the time I would get around to Shadows could probably pick it up for five dollars- and for what a saw posted somewhere else, redemption is somehow tied to your chip, so no chance of reselling code.

I had a i5-12600KF and got the i7-14700K when it was on sale for $211 one morning on Amazon. It's a very noticeable difference, I play mostly flight simulator and my frame rates when up substantially. Your jump won't be so big, not sure it's really worth it unless you sell the other CPU.

Yeah, so mad I missed that Amazon deal that went so fast. Still in the return window 'till Tue for the 12700KF. Will probably just keep it- mainly it's the integrated GFXs of the 14600k that's tempting me.

Civ Vii always has poor launches, but usually becomes an amazing game after a year or so of patching and dlc

My experience was that they do check your hardware to give you the code but for civ 7 they will give you a steam key at the end. For AC shadows, they ask that you link your Ubisoft account to them.

I couldn't redeem either game until I installed the cpu, they sent the digital codes as soon as a purchased so I had to wait

Seeing as the stock took a major hit after release i would not say that Shadows is an "Amazing" game.

Yes, dead platform, 14th gen was last for the 1700 socket.

Yes dead, but if you are upgrading every 5+ years. Socket longevity is not too important

If you think like that, z890 might be a dead platform soon also.
