The idea that you need a $5 million net worth to justify a $1,000 iPad purchase is extremely conservative and prob out of line with mainstream financial advice. Such a guideline would suggest one spending only 0.02% of their net worth on a tablet, which is far more restrictive than even the most conservative financial experts recommend.
What if someone subjectively / objectively gains much more than $1000 in long term value but are worth even less than $50k?

Yes, I understand that if you use something like an Air or regular iPad long enough, and not using it side by side with a Pro, you will eventually get used to it and it won't bother you...but I personally am tied to the Pro models, just for those two features, even though the equivalent sizes on the Pro are typically $400-$700 more than the Air or regular iPad.
Just my $0.02. Obviously, everyone has different monthly expenses, but you certainly don't need to have a multi-million-dollar net worth to justify an iPad purchase. If you need $5,000,000 net worth to justify a $1,000 iPad, what do you need, a $125,000,000 net worth to justify a $25,000 car purchase? LOL!

I spent $3k on a flagship TV, which costs more than my car. However, I use the TV a lot more so it was a good buy for me.
