I bought mine 2021 on sale for $84.80, but it's the older version (which they still sell). I like it a lot. The one in the deal here is a newer, upgraded model with a temperature dial and touch controls v.s. buttons you depress. I'm not sure whether a temp dial would be that much more helpful, but that's the main difference.
It's not perfect, but it does toast pretty evenly, faster and better than any other toaster oven I've had. I wouldn't toast anything that splatters, though, it's not designed for that. It has those light rods, and it would be a pain to clean the inside. I've only had to remove crumbs after years of use. The pan is helpful if you only want to toast one side or messy items. It's great for toast, bagels, melts, and re-heating, everything thing that you would expect it to be good at. The price isn't cheap, per se, but it's a solid choice for a compact toaster oven.
This is the best/fastest toaster oven if you mainly want to TOAST. Faster than most dedicated toasters according to RTings.

However, the killer feature is that it crisps many things like an air fryer in half the time. The dedicated hashbrown button gets used every morning

Agreed. I use this to toast fresh eggs too. If you haven't heard this novel way to cook eggs then google it.

Wonderful in every way EXCEPT, you might as well throw it out, rather than attempt to clean it. Impossible.

I have the last generation and it is fantastic so fast to heat up. One of the legs is broken, but the oven itself still going strong.

yea I said the same with my air fryer and got a ninja foodi grill with a digital temp setting and it's great. totally worth it for making things easily repeatable.

Have you seen the refrigerators with digital temp settings? I had a house with a Samsung. It was super quiet too.

I tend to not change the temp so I don't care about having a reading on the fridge in the same way.

I like it for the accuracy instead of 1-2-3-4 settings

I love this item. I use it a lot in my kitchen. You cannot roast a whole turkey or bake a cake in it, but it heats up or crisp food really fast.

Yes, I did when I had to replace one of the bulbs. You practically have to take the entire thing apart and the bulb is $25. But I don't regret it for a second. It's the best toaster oven that I have ever used. I'd buy this new model in a second if mine broke.

Bought the older one years ago because wirecutter gave it a rec, the heating element started drooping a little over a year later and Panasonic refused to fix it and it's not a user replaceable part. AFAIK the heating element hasn't changed.

I have the older version of this. This is great for chicken wings: the top element is close and very hot. Wings come out surprisingly crispy.

After owning this Panasonic for around 20yrs and finally getting an air fryer just 6 months ago, the air fryer is better and faster at certain things vs this but not by much. Toast is still amazingly fast and perfectly done with the Panasonic. Most air fryers are annoying in that they don't have a glass window to monitor the status. While I love reheating pizza and fries in the air fryer, sometimes I have overcooked the fries. But then again, I have been using this Panasonic for 20yrs so I know the exact settings for the quickest and best reheating.
