If the wood is thick enough, try stopping halfway through one end, flip the wood over, align the pilot hole and finish on the other end.
I have this kit. It's alright what it is. I've been using it for woodworking which is not its intended use. It will cause tear outs through the back end unless you use a sacrificial board.

Great if you're using it to make wheels for toys which is what I've also done.

If you're trying to make very clean holes look into Forstner bits.

The 10pc comes with 2 less hole saw sizes. Depends on the sizing you need, but the 10 piece has an extra shank instead of a hole saw.

The circumstance is you buy the big set today so you are prepared for holes in the future and have everything in a nice nesting storage box.

If you just buy the sizes you need when you need them, you end up with a mixed bag of clutter and still don't have the right size when you start a new project. Or worse, you DO have the right size but it wasn't stored with your other ones so you forgot, bought a new one, and now you have two.

Applies to drill bits, impact sockets, etc…ask me how I know!

I also buy an additional set for when I can't find the first set because I put it right on top of that table over there because I was probably going to use it there next weekend. Instead, it's not in it's normal location because I was smart enough to save myself some time next weekend but having it there, right on THAT table.
Someone must have moved it, so now I have to buy multiple cameras, because that first one isn't 360 degrees, and what if one breaks and the mfr discontinues the model I just bought? Better be prepared with a backup set as well.
