I for some reason have crackling sound after I use the computer for while with 2021 Mac 14 and 16. It goes away if I reboot but will resume after couple of deep sleep cycles.
My primary daily driver is this exact Macbook - its EXCELLENT.
I just bought an M4 Macbook Air 16gb/512gb and its not nearly as good as the M1Pro.
Every little detail is better and the M4 performance is NOT AS GOOD a my M1Pro.
I'm tempted to buy this as a backup.
This is an insanely good computer for $820. It was current gen just over two years ago with a $2k MSRP. MiniLED screen, awesome sound, processor and GPU is still faster than what most users will need.
While I agree it's still a solid computer, there is no way this was $2,000 two years ago, especially with those specs.

Adding to this for a pricing perspective, I got the 1TB version ( apple certified refurb sold by woot in amazon.com) couple years ago for $1400 . Also another refurb version (Geek squad refurb) with 512 GB ( same config as in OP) from best buy ( 40 cycles and came with remaining apple care) for $950 some 10 months back.

Depends on the configuration, but generally yeah.. I bought the same config. with the 16" screen in '2021 for around $2199 ( Costco )
Great chip, battery, screen etc.. just know that the M1 Pro chips support up to 2 external monitors, in case you need more lol..
Mine still looks like brand new, and only 26 charge cycles with 99% battery health! ( used as a desktop only ) .. Even kept the oem box and all..Might sell it
I ended up getting a M4 mini for additional ports, mostly desktop use, larger SSD, and 4 external monitors ( but that's my use case )
What does Woot do to make it "refurbished"? New battery? What am I getting into?
I've had extensive experience with Woot's refurbishment -- bought Echos, Kindles, and other items from them.
Their refurb process is a "spit shine". And sometimes you get more spit than shine. They do flat out NOTHING to actually refurbish the unit. You're taking a gamble, like buying piece of tech at a yard sale. It might be like new, it might be a heartbeat away from becoming ewaste.
I will no longer buy anything from Woot -- it's the same risk of counterfeits as Amazon.
