Great $/TB, and the Saga continues… I wonder who will be the lucky brave souls to order these first and find out if they are EXOS or Barracuda.

Does it works if i want to use it for nas externally? What are the differences between those types?

EXOS is generally better, built for servers. But the different models vary. If you want this for a NAS, I'd shuck it (remove the enclosure) and just the drive inside your NAS. Your NAS might technically support external USB drives, but you'll lose performance doing that.

Side note: I'm REALLY not a fan of the limited warranties these companies are starting to do in the US, that sucks. This is model STKP18000400, so it apparently has a 1 year warranty in the US, 2 year warranty in the EU, and 3 years in Asia: https://www.seagate.com/content/d...-en_US.pdf

Just because of that crap warranty, I'd bet that this is one of Seagate's cheaper drives.

Something needs to be done!
That's a weird comment to make on this thread specifically because it's one of the cheapest price/TB I've seen in awhile for high capacity HDD storage.

Love the comment on the last Seagate thread: friends don't let friends buy Seagate 🙂 in my 32 years of nerding, Seagate has a higher rate of failure. However just had a 14TB WD Elements with a WD140EDGZ white label fail on me. Used it to show my kids how platters spin when powering up the lame disk, but hell of an expensive show and tell.

They've been making some changes to the internals of these products so maybe they are trying to incentivize to sell off old stock?
