I have this set, I have to wear earplugs with them indoors lol. I may have had unrealistic expectations, I thought these were a noise canceling headphone set but they aren't. I don't need the ability to speak with anyone when I'm shooting though if I did, this would be nice enough if I was shooting outside. My mistake for not understanding what they were before I purchased them.

I'm not disputing your claims when I say ordered this a week ago when it was on SD. and got it today, about a week after. I had a payment problem that was my fault and fixed it.

If your other order says it's gonna take longer than a week or two maybe order today and this one will come soon then you can cancel the other one.

For sure, the ones from the OP are designed to still be able to talk with a mic and speakers. For even better dB protection than what you list, you can look at comparisons as less reputable brands can lie. The best one from this comparison [noisyworld.org] is the 3M X5A

These don't provide any kind of active noise cancellation. They muffle sounds but have a microphone to allow you to hear ambient noise. It would be like any kind of noise canceling headset, but always set to transparency mode instead of noise canceling. It's probably the least ideal choice for air travel because you get no noise cancellation. You would be better off wearing a $.25 pair of foam plugs.
