I like to attach an SSD to my Netgear RAX80 router for a cheap NAS solution. This enclosure with a Samsung 990 EVO Plus NVME drive would hang after a few hours of inactivity. I had to go back to a traditional SSD.

I have one similar to this. It is great for doing maintenance on your SSD and not having to keep installing and uninstalling it.

This is one of those things you didn't realize you needed, but are very handy.

What speeds do you get over the network? Thanks.

Any recommendations on a decent SSD drive for occasional use as file backup for music, pics, and movies?

Question: If I had a Gen 3 or Gen 4 NVME SSD, would they be backwards compatible with this Gen 2 enclosure? I know I wouldn't get Gen 3 or Gen 4 speeds, but will they work with this Gen 2 enclosure?
EDIT: Just researched it, yes, either Gen 3 or Gen 4 NVME SSD will work with this Gen 2 enclosure, they are backwards compatible to Gen 2.

Hard to say.I had a TeamGroup fail in two years. It had a three-year warranty. I sent it in for RMA. I have a Samsung and an ADATA SSD. Both are doing fine after the same amount of time.

Anyone have a link to affordable one that supports 8tb? This repeatedly only accepts 4tb.

Have this and today I was using it to clone a friend's NVME to a larger drive and noticed that the whole circuit board came out when I opened the cover. So I guess there's no glue or after sometime the glue holding it into the housing came off. Doesn't affect anything else though just something to I have to be mindful of now when opening it.

The "Gen 2" thing, in this case, is referring to the USB 3.1 Gen 2... not NVMe generation.

As far as I'm aware, NVMe gen 3 is the first generation of NVMe, the drive didn't exist before that. Gen 1 and 2 had to do with PCIe on the motherboard, rather than the drive spec.

In any case, yes, backwards compatible between NVMe gen 3/4/5. Not compatible with M.2. SATA drives (there's a different case for that).

What the heck is going on here, this exact item, same exact discount code, has been posted three separate times, and no one is saying it's a duplicate? am I misreading and it's different?
