Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank bluekiwi

FYI: Amazon has created their own OS (linux based) for amazon devices and will supposedly be rolling it out this year
No more sideloading with this OS

Amazon will be applying it to Fire tv, fire tv sticks, etc

So this tv won't be able to be updated to that new OS?

Unsure if Amazon will apply to new items or apply to current ones as well

I absolutely love these little TV's, though I've only ever bought the 720p model. They're perfect for kids because they're routinely on sale, pretty sturdy build quality, and reliable (in my experience). One of these and a Series S or Switch and you've got a very nice kids gaming setup for $300-350. We've owned 6 of the 720p models and the only reason we've had to replace them is accidental damage. They're so cheap though it's not a huge deal.
