Wow this is a great deal for a kids computer. Only thing you need to be careful of is the GPU and the pcie 3.0 you need to make sure you have at least 8 lanes on your GPU. Some budget gpus skimped on the lanes and it will hurt performance in this system.

I thought I was the only one when I read thatโฆ. Made zero sense. This cpu supports the standard 20 pcie lanes.
I do think there is a lot of confusion surrounding PCIe lanes and different PCIe generations. The issue at hand stems from x4 PCIe 4.0 cards like the RX 6500xt. When paired with an R5 5500 which is PCIe 3.0, it will have its bandwidth cut in half whereas an x8 or x16 PCIe 4.0 (Or 3.0) card will not have this issue be noticable. Regardless, it will likely only be a problem in games with relatively high VRAM usage and which run at relatively high frame rates (e.g. Doom eternal). Just stay away from the RX 6500xt.
The good thing about this deal, everything works together, takes the guess work out of figuring if everything is compatible. There are those that are very advanced in computer building, and demand the highest specs, but for those who just want a starting point, this would be a good starter build. For non gamers.
This is a solid bundle for those looking to upgrade a system which might otherwise be ineligible for an automatic upgrade to Windows 11.
Good luck!
Jon
Exactly what I used the last good newegg combo for! Fixed my kiddo's stuttering in his games on the old i7-6700k too. He paid for it himself and we built it together! *single tear* Sure I gifted him a video card, but hey it's a start. (Also who could pass up the Zotac $285 3070 refurbs)
Unfortunately, MSI Pro B550M Pro VDH Motherboard Bundle is now $223.58. The nice thing about that motherboard is that it has 4 SATA ports instead of 2 for those who use large drives for storage.
I was on the same page as you until a few weeks ago. Then I learned that a lot more AM5 CPUs have iGPUs. The "G" CPUs are still what could be considered APUs and usable for light gaming. But your typical Ryzen 5 and 7 CPUs include an iGPU now. It's a weak iGPU. But it at least provides enough to see your operating system.IMO, this makes AM5 CPUs much better choices for home virtualization servers. You don't have to waste money and electricity for your host to output video. And you get the full PCIe speeds available. This also makes them even better choices if you want to pass through a dGPU to a VM.(AM4 may still be better to use as a hypervisor for a lot of people. But that's mainly because it is cheaper overall.)
Most AM4 Ryzens don't have igpus.
I see where you're coming from, but I should have clarified.

Just upgrade the CPU. You don't need the bundle. You're already on AM4 socket. Buy a used or Ali R5 5600 or better for $100ish.

That is a much better deal if you need the case. Modern budget case with 6 fans pre-installed.
6650xt is 8GB, 6700XT/6750XT is 12GB
Are there a lot of people who build their own PC's and don't use a separate GPU?
And I still have 3 generations of old GPU's laying around, so if my current one were to fail, I'd have something like my old 1070 to hold me over.
