It is getting rare to see some of these outlets agree on such a high score. Especially when the game is a throwback Turn Based JRPG. I believe the team said their desire to make an RPG was driven by playing Final Fantasy X when they where younger.

I've gotten bored with turned-based RPGs because of the lack of engagement (which is why I love the action style of FF7R now). But when this game was first revealed, I knew it would reinvigorate the genre, exactly because of the gameplay additions to the typical turn-based. Now, Atlus themselves are forced to innovate on Persona 6 or get left in the dust by rising standards.
As for the game itself, I'm glad to support physical, as I was looking to pre-order this a few weeks ago, and saw no listings and assumed it was digital only (something studios are doing now, e.g. Alan Wake 2, Black Myth Wukong, etc)
A large shade was cast on this though when Oblivion Remastered got shadow dropped recently, but I think the high Metacritic scores will part the clouds on this game once again.

This game looks great, but I just think it's funny and kinda sad (for me) when they say they played FFX "when they were younger" ... I played FF1 when I was younger. Lol. *cries*
