Thoughts on these? Have previous model for one son studying engineering, thinking of buying this for other one studying same thing. Specs seem good, pro model decent build, good portability and battery life, whats not to like? Oh and great price with 2 year warranty. Anyone bought from this place i see they have a lot of refurbs.

No offense to the OP, but...

FYI Everyone - Here's a paraphrase of my 4/16/2025, Asus Vivobook S 15 review on Best Buy:

I kept getting the Blue Screen of Death / crash about 5+ times per day.
- The Geek Squad "FIXED it" THREE times, but shortly after I got it home, same thing, BSOD!
- Sent it into the Asus service center, and when I got it back 15 days later, got BSOD twice within 4 minutes. They said the WARRANTY does NOT include any replacements or refunds.

I will never buy another Asus product. And will avoid buying from Best Buy also.

.

PS - Asus has a D- rating at the Better Business Bureau - Failure to respond to 83 complaint(s) filed against business

From my research ASUS is among the more reliable of all laptop makers of windows after MS. Could the BSOD be due to faulty peripheral? Not blaming you or saying ASUS should not address that. But with BSOD it is almost always peripherals and their drivers that cause it.

Yeah i cancelled after reading all the reviews about issues. Thats why there are so many refurbs. Think the blue screen could be bios, but reading about hinges and terrible battery life made me reconsider even with the great price. Back to the drawing board.

BBB, like yelp or Google, is a private company. There is no sense of authenticity in their reviews, and you can simply purchase to have reviews removed.

Not to entirely discredit your opinion but I feel it's important to disclose that they're not a trust worthy organization and certainly not of any authority despite "bureau" in their name .

I used to work in IT.
After many other attempts to fix the BSOD, I re-installed Windows. No peripherals connected, no s/w installed, air gapped, only two things open -- the Task Manager & their MyAsus program (sometimes scanning the laptop). Still got BSOD eventually, usually within an hour, sometimes within minutes.
Geek Squad eventually re-installed Windows in their 3rd repair attempt. I used the same tactics ===> BSOD.
Asus Service center said they re-installed Windows & updated all the BIOS, etc. When I got it back 15 days later, I used the same tactics ===> BSOD, twice, within ~4-min of boot up -- I've got a video on Youtube if anyone's interested.
Now they SAY they want to "repair" again. NO REFUNDS OR REPLACEMENTS!
It's becoming clear that Asus is using the delay & deny strategy. Like the health insurance industry.

What were the other laptop makers' ratings at the Better Business Bureau?
And how many of these did they have, "Failure to respond to 83 complaint(s) filed against business" ?
