I have 1,732 hours on this game. By far it's been the best investment with endless hours of gameplay. Each game start is different, no two game play thrus are ever the same. Recommend this at this price!

Fascinating game that really sucks you in. I have little patience for survival games these days. This one is pretty easy to pick up, understand the basics and start exploring.

Great game, but still not finished. Definitely worth it at this price. The main story has 4 out of 5 episodes released, with the 5th planned late this year, which is supposed to conclude the story.

Yes, 100%. The DLC adds a lot more gameplay features, regions to explore, story quests to the survival mode, and achievements. Definitely worth it.

Great game and should be a no-brainer at this price - very engaging and beautifully atmospheric.
Highly recommend that you start by playing the Wintermute story episodes first as a tutorial and take your time - even the side missions will teach you gameplay and key locations. The Journal tab provides details about game mechanics and will fill in as you encounter them, check it often (key J). After the story episodes, there are some in-game Challenges which are also valuable training, play thru them in order of difficulty. Finally, the survival mode has multiple difficulties and will give you still hundreds more hours of play.
The Tales DLC isn't needed at all up front - wait for a better sale to come along and get it once you're hooked.

Glad to see that this is still active. I sunk a lot of time in this game in early access about 11 years ago. Even then I was totally satisfied with the features/completeness and got my money's worth ($9.99). Seems like a good time to get back in and grab the DLC. The upcoming visual update looks stunning.

This game is worth full price. I really enjoy how customizable the difficulty is. I don't like the constant threat of wolves, so I have it set so they'll run away from me at a far distance, which sucks for collecting pelts but makes for a more relaxing experience. There's so much to do and now you can customize basecamps. The devs are always rolling out improvements despite Long Dark 2 being in development.I agree with the other comment to play wintermute (guided storyline) first and then attempting survival mode because you'll be quite lost with all the nuances of crafting, health, cooking, clothing, etc. Also agree with getting the DLC.
