Thanks for posting that link. I guess my local AMC is not considered a Classic.

Note that AMC Classic theaters are mostly older theaters and they don't have reserved seating.

I checked the list. They are all small theaters with very limited number of auditoriums. The new A-List offers up to 4 movies per week for at least 10% more money. For most theaters, the new A-List wouldn't make any sense because there is no way most of these theaters will offer 4 new movies per week. I think they offer this A-List Classic to fill the gap and to offer people some reasonable downgrades.

The new A-List starts in May as well. Many of my friends are dropping the plan because they don't want to pay another $5 just to watch 4 movies per week instead of 3. They might have sign up for the A-List Classic had it not limited to just this small list of theaters.

So this "classic" plan is a lesser, cheaper plan for small theaters, but the current plan will continue.

My AMC gets 3-5 movies most weeks. I'm cynical enough to believe in AMC's meetings about giving a 4th movie each week for a higher price they discussed that most people in the current plan would never watch a 4th movie most weeks, so this is a price increase disguised as an extra movie per week. My guess is each year maybe 25% of A List members will see a 4th movie each week partly because a 4th movie may not be available. When there are only 3 new movies per week, and Fathom Events and select other showings are excluded, AMC is making more money.

Yet even at $25 it should still be a good deal for movie lovers with at least 12 movies per month. AFAIK, Movie Pass is only a few movies per month and a worse deal. I want AMC to stay in business. I'm grateful other people are willing to overpay for concessions to allow A List to keep going. I don't know how much AMC pays the studios for every movie a person sees with A List. Anyone know? Anyone?

This is for the locations farther away from major metro areas. Same as the refillable popcorn bucket deal.

AMC should consider this plan for larger areas, same as the popcorn bucket. Not everyone goes to three or four movies a week.
